How the 4th Flagship Will Change Arena and PvP

4 flagships changes everything

In my opinion, this will be the biggest change to PvP in both the Arena and regular gameplay that we have seen in the game to date.

Once you upgrade your energy core to level 33, the option to deploy the 4th flagship will become available. 

Upgrading to core 33 won't be fast or straight forward because of the new resource required. The new resource is only available by unlocking the new Epoch of fusion seed research tree which can only be unlocked by reaching a certain milestone in the combat craft research tree.

The combat craft research tree is the same tree used to unlock T7, so for players who have not focused on this research tree, I advise you to start focusing on it now, so then you can be prepared when this update reaches your server.

Since players first started playing the game, there have always only been 3 fleets available to be deployed and the most common setup is to have 1 kinetic ship, 1 beam ship and 1 ion ship. Now you will need to decide what the 4th ship will be and how you will utilise it in PvP. 

4th Flagship champion formation

There are not enough legendary champions in the game, therefore people will need to put epic champions into one of the 4 fleets. 

4th Flagship Style

I think for the majority of players the most obvious choice will be to build a second kinetic fleet. Having a second fleet of the same style will use the same crew in your nexus, so as most players generally focus kinetic, their kinetic nexus will be the most advanced.

Gungnir

For servers who have the new Gungnir flagship, everyone - including f2p players were able to obtain this flagship through a free bingo board event that lasted two weeks. Anyone who was active was able to achieve the Gungnir ship during those first 2 weeks. 

However for people who were unable to play at that time and missed the event, this puts them (especially f2p players) at  a disadvantage as they won't be able to deploy a 4th flagship at all. 

I do wonder if the devs will introduce an opportunity for players to get Gungnir for free again so that everyone is able to deploy 4 flagships.

Gungnir is also the most expensive ship in the game to rank up and it only becomes the best ship in the game once it is significantly ranked up, for the majority of players they will never get it beyond rank 1.

Arena

We have been told that you will be able to deploy 4 flagships in the Arena. As this will be a huge advantage, there will be a race to get to core level 33 as quick as possible once it arrives on you server. 

The current meta in arena is to use a DPS champion formation such as Jodie/Zora/Lilly on the gram. With a 4th flagship being deployed, how much will the meta change?

Personally I think the DPS on one ship meta will continue until the devs fix it and the 4th flagship will become a second kinetic ship, with your second kinetic ship being your tank.
