NAVIGATION DAY – BEACON FEST: FULL EVENT GUIDE

A new limited-time event is coming to Foundation: Galactic Frontier called Navigation Day – Beacon Fest.

This is similar to past events such as the World Cup event, Valentines , St Patrick’s etc - Navigation Day is made up of several different parts including daily quests, Trader Commissions, donations, a new Battle Pass, an event lottery and its own exchange shop.

EVENT DATES

The current dates provided are:

Beta Servers 1001–1016: August 19 – August 25

Global Servers 1017–1XXX: August 24 – August 30

WHAT IS NAVIGATION DAY?

The theme behind the event is the reopening of the trade routes following the Black Hole Calibration Window.

Players will be helping to light up navigation beacons and reconnect the scattered trade routes into one Light Array.

The event description says that on the night the trade routes restart, the port will be filled with lights as traders gather to celebrate the continuation of civilisation.

Navigation Day Sign-In

There will be a Navigation Day Sign-In as part of the event.

Logging in during the event is also one of the confirmed ways to receive Energy Crystals, which are needed for the Light Array Calibration activity.

There is a daily limit on how many Energy Crystals can be obtained from login, although the exact amount hasn’t been provided yet. The event page will show the daily amounts.

Navigation Blessings

Navigation Blessings is basically the Battle Pass section of Navigation Day.

The progression item for this is called a Navigation Compass.

During the event you can complete daily quests and target quests to earn Navigation Compasses. The daily quests reset each day.

The normal reward track is available automatically when the event starts, and collecting more Navigation Compasses allows you to unlock rewards further along the track.

There are also two additional reward tiers:

Navigation Blessings – Advanced Pack

Navigation Blessings – Elite Pack

Buying either of these packs unlocks the additional rewards from that tier.

If you have unlocked rewards but haven’t claimed them by the time the event finishes, they will be sent through in-game mail.

Unused Navigation Compasses will expire after the event.

Navigation Plan

Navigation Plan is another quest section, but this uses Navigation Points rather than Navigation Compasses.

You earn rewards and Navigation Points by completing daily quests.

One thing worth knowing is that each day’s quests only start counting when they are actually revealed. You can’t complete the requirements in advance and have them count later.

The quest types can also be different each day, so it will be worth checking this section whenever the next set becomes available.

The more Navigation Points you collect, the more milestone rewards you can unlock.

Any unlocked rewards that haven’t been claimed when the event ends will be sent by mail.

Energy Commissions

Trader Commissions are going to be an important part of Navigation Day.

The story is that trade ships returning along the reopened routes have lost Energy Containers. These contain Energy Crystals, which are needed to power the Navigation Beacons.

During the event, completing Trader Commission events can give extra Navigation Coins, up to 10 per day.

There will also be special Navigation Day Energy Commissions that can appear when commissions are refreshed.

All of these special Energy Commissions are Legendary quality.

Completing them gives additional Energy Crystals.

Energy Commission rewards

There are also milestone rewards connected to how many Energy Crystals you collect through Trader Commissions.

The total includes Energy Crystals from:

• Trader Commission event rewards
• Limited commission completion rewards
• Limited commission event rewards

Reaching the different milestones will give additional rewards.

What happens to Energy Commissions after the event?

There is an interesting rule here.

If an Energy Commission has already appeared before Navigation Day ends, you can still complete it afterwards.

However, standard Trader Commission events will stop giving the extra Navigation Coins once the event is over.

Any unclaimed event rewards will be sent through mail.

Light Array Calibration

This looks like one of the main activities of the event.

The idea is to collect Energy Crystals and donate them to activate Navigation Beacons.

Energy Crystals can be obtained through daily login and Trader Commissions.

There are daily limits on how many Energy Crystals can be obtained from each source, with the exact amounts being shown on the event page.

Once you have Energy Crystals, you can donate them through Light Array Calibration.

Every donation helps towards both your own progress and the global progress of everyone taking part.

Individual and global donation rewards

There are two different types of rewards connected to Energy Crystal donations.

Individual Donation Rewards are based on your own donations.

Global Donation Rewards are based on the total number of Energy Crystals donated by everyone.

There are currently five Global Donation Reward stages listed:

• Global Donation Reward I
• Global Donation Reward II
• Global Donation Reward III
• Global Donation Reward IV
• Global Donation Reward V

As everyone donates more Energy Crystals, the Light Array progresses and more of the global rewards become available.

The final activated Light Array represents the combined progress of all traders taking part.

Energy Badges

Energy Badges are another item connected to the donation system.

They are described as a symbol of honour earned by donating Energy Crystals.

Even after all of the normal donation rewards have been unlocked, you can continue donating Energy Crystals and continue receiving Energy Badges.

The developer information also mentions an Energy Settlement after the event ends, although the exact conversion details haven’t been provided in the information I have.

Energy Treasure

The donation event doesn’t completely end when all five Global Donation Rewards have been unlocked.

After all Navigation Beacons have been activated, a further global goal called the Energy Treasure becomes available.

Players can continue donating Energy Crystals and the whole server works towards another total donation target.

Once the required number of global Energy Crystal donations has been reached, the Energy Treasure can be claimed.

The exact donation requirement and the rewards inside the Energy Treasure haven’t been provided yet.

Navigation Deck

Navigation Deck is the lottery part of Navigation Day.

To make draws you need an item called a Starlight Mark.

Starlight Marks can be earned through different Navigation Day activities and can also be obtained from packs.

You can choose between making one draw or 10 draws at once.

Every draw gives 1 point.

Those points also count towards milestone rewards, so the more draws you make, the further you progress through the Navigation Deck milestones.

Rare rewards will be previewed on the event page and there will also be a Details button showing the reward probabilities.

What happens to unused Starlight Marks?

Unused Starlight Marks will be converted into Credits when the event finishes.

The conversion rate is:

1 Starlight Mark = 100 Credits

So if you are planning to use them for Navigation Deck draws, make sure you don’t leave them sitting unused when the event ends.

Light Array Market

Navigation Day also has its own event shop called the Light Array Market.

The currency used here is Navigation Coins.

Navigation Coins can be earned through activities during the event and then exchanged for items in the Light Array Market.

The developers describe the items available there as exclusive Navigation Day commemorative items.

What happens to unused Navigation Coins?

Navigation Coins are also converted into Credits when the event ends.

The conversion rate is:

1 Navigation Coin = 10 Credits

So these can’t be saved for a future Navigation Day event either.

Smooth Sailing

There is another part of Navigation Day listed as Smooth Sailing, with a task called Deck Shop.

At the moment, no rules explaining exactly how this works have been provided, so there isn’t really anything else I can say about this section without guessing.

Navigation Supply Pack

There will also be a Navigation Supply Pack available during the event.

No information has been provided yet about the contents, price or purchase limits. However it will most likely be similar to the past events.

Luminous Expedition ship skin

Navigation Day includes a new ship skin called Luminous Expedition.

The description calls it a mobile beacon covered in dark golden armour, spreading across the night sky and opening deep-space routes for trade fleets.

There is also a second version called Luminous Expedition (Friendship).

The Friendship version can either be used yourself or gifted to another trader.

Avatar frame 

There is also a new frame called Radiant Star Circuit.

Its description says that the stars aren’t scattered randomly, but instead flow like a river along their destined paths of light.

Chat border/frame

Transmission Lightwave is the new chat frame included with the event.

Its description refers to the history of route calibration, when every attempt was a gamble between survival and destruction, before traders eventually learned to celebrate the journey.

All Navigation Day currencies

There are quite a few different currencies and items in this event, so this is probably the easiest way to keep track of them.

Navigation Compass

Used for Navigation Blessings.

Earned from daily and target quests.

Navigation Points

Used for Navigation Plan progression.

Earned by completing the daily Navigation Plan quests.

Starlight Mark

Used to make draws in Navigation Deck.

Can be obtained from Navigation Day activities and packs.

Navigation Coin

Used in the Light Array Market.

Can be earned through event activities, including Trader Commissions.

Energy Crystal

Used for Light Array Calibration.

Energy Crystals can be obtained from daily login and Trader Commissions.

Donating them contributes towards individual and global donation progress.

Energy Badge

Connected to Energy Crystal donations.

You can continue earning them by donating even after the normal donation rewards have all been unlocked.

Things we still don’t know

There are still some details that haven’t been provided yet.

These include some of the exact Energy Crystal daily limits, milestone requirements, reward contents, Energy Treasure requirements and the Navigation Deck reward probabilities.

The developer information points players towards the actual event pages for some of these values, so we should be able to fill in those gaps once the event is live.
